2.3.6 Managing Styles
Different views of FishVue Interpret may be necessary for different tasks. With FishVue Interpret, you can create different “styles” for different uses. This includes modifying the view of sensor data including shapefiles, box graphs, and the ability to have multiple personalized keyboard shortcuts for one configuration. For example, a reviewer could have fishery-specific keyboard shortcuts based on the species composition of a particular trip. These style specifications are saved within the configuration on the computer where they were created.
To manage styles:
- Select Manage Styles within the configuration you would like multiple profiles to exist in.
- Select the duplicate button on the basic style. A new style will appear.
- To rename the style, click on the name and type a new name (for example, “Rockfish”).
- Click the activate button to make this style active.
- You can now modify the view and your changes will save to this style. For example, you could update the box graphs, add shapefiles, or create configuration-specific keyboard shortcut profiles.
Creating a Configuration-Specific Keyboard Shortcut Profile
To create a configuration-specific keyboard shortcut profile:
- After completing the steps above, select Edit Annotation Keyboard Shortcuts from the Annotations menu.
- Edit the Annotation Keyboard Shortcuts with the desired data and click OK.
- Add another style and keyboard shortcut preferences. In the example below, a style called “Groundfish” has been created alongside the “Rockfish” style.
- The active style is indicated by a check mark within Set Current Style in the View menu and by a star within the Manage Styles menu. The active style’s keyboard shortcuts will also be active.
To switch between styles:
- From the View menu, choose Set Current Style, then select the style you want. The specified style is then displayed.
- To delete a style, click the delete button next to the style name.
- To reset to the default setting, click the restore button.
2.4 Viewing Video Data
This section describes how to review video footage using FishVue Interpret.
2.4.1 Loading Video Data
FishVue Interpret manages sensor data and video data separately; video data is loaded into the program after the sensor data.
To load video data:
- From the Video menu, choose Show Video Window.
- In the Browse for Folder box, select the video data folder containing the appropriate video footage, and click OK.
2.4.2 Repairing Video Files
Upon loading an MP4 video file recorded with an IP (digital) camera, FishVue Interpret automatically scans the file for data errors. If any are detected, it offers to repair them. Note that this feature is only available with digital camera systems; it cannot repair video recorded with analog cameras.
NOTE: If you are loading data from the original EM Record hard disk, the Repair to Original Directory function will modify the original data on that disk. For security reasons, you may prefer not to overwrite the original data source.
To repair video files:
- Load the video file as described in the previous section. If errors are detected, FishVue Interpret will display the Repair MP4 Files? box.
At this point you have three options:
- Repair to Original Directory: Repairs and overwrites the original corrupted files. This replaces the existing corrupted files.
- Repair to Temporary Directory: Creates a temporary repaired version of each broken file. The temporary files will only be available until you close FishVue Interpret. This preserves the original corrupted files in the state in which they were received.
- Don’t Repair: Closes the box without repairing any broken files. The files will remain in their original state and will not be viewable in FishVue Interpret or any media player software.
If you choose to repair files, a Repairing MP4 Files box will be displayed to indicate progress. The time required will depend on the size and number of broken files. Although the progress indicator may appear to stop from time to time, this is normal—the box will disappear as soon as all broken files have been repaired.
2.4.3 Controlling Video Playback
Once you have loaded video data, a video control box is displayed along with the camera windows. During playback, all camera windows are synchronized along the timeline.
The video control box uses box graphs to represent each video clip:
- Green boxes represent clips that are ready to be played.
- Yellow boxes represent clips that are missing from the specified video data folder.
- A red circle represents a video file that was found in the VideoData folder but cannot be played.
- Blue boxes represent clips that have been successfully repaired.
The video control box offers the following controls (from left to right): jump back one frame (when paused), play/pause, forward one frame (when paused), jump forward, and stop. The clock function lets you jump to a specific date and time. The slider adjusts playback speed between 0.5× and 16× real speed (including 0.5×, 1×, 2×, 4×, 6×, 8×, 10×, 12×, and 16×). The jump size switch lets you define the number of seconds to go back or forward when using the jump buttons. Click the icon next to a camera line to show or hide the camera window for that video.
Configuring Keyboard Shortcuts for Video Playback
In addition to the onscreen video playback controls, you can use your keyboard to control video playback. You can configure a keyboard shortcut for each control in the Key Bindings box.
To configure keyboard shortcuts for video playback:
- From the Settings menu, choose Keyboard Controls. The Key Bindings box is displayed, listing each video control on the left side.
- To configure a shortcut for any video control, click the field next to that label and press the desired key. The key name will appear in the field.
- Repeat for any functions you want to operate from the keyboard, then click OK to save your changes.
Displaying Camera Windows
Video from each camera is displayed in a separate video window, named accordingly (Camera 1, Camera 2, etc.). You can move, resize, and maximize or minimize these windows just like any others in Microsoft Windows.
2.4.4 Changing Video Views
When viewing video you can expand the image incrementally or click to a preset zoom level, then pan around the enlarged image. You can also “clone” the view from a single camera to display two views simultaneously in different windows, or use the Nudge feature to slightly change the synchronization of a video. Each of these features is described below.
Zooming and Panning
FishVue Interpret offers two ways to zoom: rolling the mouse wheel to expand the view incrementally, or using the Quick Zoom feature to snap to a preset zoom level.
To zoom in on an image:
- Click on the video image you want to expand, then roll the mouse wheel to zoom in or out.
To zoom with Quick Zoom:
- Right-click anywhere on the video window, choose Quick Zoom from the popup menu, and select a zoom level from the dropdown list.
- Click the mouse wheel (or middle mouse button) to quickly zoom in to the preset level. Release to zoom back out.
To pan around a zoomed image:
- Click and hold the left mouse button, then drag the mouse in any direction.
- Alternatively, hold the Alt key and use the keyboard arrows.
Both panning and zooming can be done while video is playing or paused.
Cloning a Video View
You can “clone” the view from a single camera (analog or digital) to display two views simultaneously in different windows.
To clone a video view:
- Pause the video. On the Video control box, click the clone button beside the camera you want to clone. A second, slightly smaller video window labeled “Clone of Camera X” will be displayed.
- Zoom and pan each view independently to get the best view.
- Click Play to resume imagery playback.
Nudging Video Synchronization
You can nudge a video to slightly change the synchronization of playback; for example, to provide multiple views of a fish as it passes through a conveyor system, or to synchronize video clips that are offset.
To nudge a video:
- Pause the video.
- On the Video control box, click the nudge button. The Camera Time Nudge box is displayed.
- Click in the Nudge Time field, type the desired offset time, and click OK.
- Click Play to resume imagery playback.
