ELECTRONIC FISHING LOGS (FLOAT)

In order to improve the delivery of the GHLCMP and increase client satisfaction, a tablet application for harvesters to enter fisher log data electronically has been developed by Archipelago – it’s called FLOAT (Fishing Logs On A Tablet).

FLOAT allows skippers to enter their fishing log information electronically and view their fishing activity and catch on an interactive map. As well, it gives access to Audits, QSRs, species identification materials, and retains your fishing log data from previous trips for future reference. If you elect to use FLOAT for submission of fishing log data, the log entry charges outlined in Section 2.2 of your egistration packaage will not apply.

 FLOAT requires the following specifications for the tablet device it will be used on:

 • Android tablet 8.0 or higher;

• GPS enabled;

• Designed for a 9-inch screen or larger. (Tablets with smaller screens may be difficult to read and use with the app)

Skippers interested in using FLOAT will be responsible for purchasing and maintaining their own tablet. Archipelago will provide the FLOAT application to skippers to download using the email address provided on the enrollment form.

Members of Archipelago’s GHLCMP management team will provide application support to skippers and provide each user with a detailed user guide. If you are interested in FLOAT, please email float@archipelago.ca or call the Victoria office (1-888-383-4535) for more details.
